Funkuncle’s Textile division is a fledgling company with high minded goals. It seeks to create high-art while, at the same time, completely mechanizing the creative design process. Mostly, we do this with robots.
Funkuncle Corporation also offers the fashion industry a financial and mathematical rigor it clearly lacks. With our research and development background, we can foresee youth trends before they happen. For example, in 1993, one of our scientists created a mathematical algorithm that predicted the popular song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Unfortunately, when the song was translated into a mathematical equation and subsequently displayed, the result was the number 24. In January 1993, trying to preempt the “Grunge” trend, our scientists attempted to release the number 24 to the music-buying public but sales were limited. History / Founded in 1955 by the entrepreneur, artist and writer, Edward J. Funkuncle, the company initially began trade as a manufacturer of Spandex. Steady, if slow, growth continued over the next twenty years, based solely on the existence of Rod Stewart, peaking, in the late 1980s, due to the proliferation of “Hair Metal” bands such as Bon Jovi, Poison and Whitesnake.
Following this productive period, the company experienced several years of “reverse-growth” until it was taken over by Edward’s only son, Calvin Funkuncle. A legendary risk taker, long distance runner and amateur magician, he saw opportunity at every crossroads. Known for his impressive hand-eye coordination and night vision, he punctured the business ceiling with shear willpower and a small loan financed by a Hungarian colleague of his father’s known as Mystery Kevin. Not long after they left the casino, Calvin soon diversified the company into new areas of special interest to himself such as Agriculture, Technology, Soft Pornography and Time Travel.
